Drakensang will not run

I found Drakensang over here in the USA at Best Buy, thought it looks good, looks like it has that Dungeons and Dragons look.

I got the game installed on my system it should handle it fine, AM2 system ASUS M2V-MX, using its onboard sound, has VIA chipset, with 2 gigs ram, NVidia 7900 GT, maybe nearly the newest drivers but I havent re-drivered for a little while.
Using WinXPPro 32 bit on it. I am snagging latest drivers at this writing, BUT, heres the issue....

Game installed fine but trying to start, seems to do the DVD check, then WOOPS, error

Couldnt initialize DRakensang's audio sub system. This may be due to a known problem with so called software modems. If a software modem is installed on your PC (e.g. "IBM Thinkpad Modem"), please remove via the "Phone and Modems Options" in the Windows control panel and restart Drakensang. If that deosn't solve the problem, please get in touch with our technical support.



This is the full english release over here in the USA I presume. Not german.

Looked for patches, but I only see one for the german version, nothing else out there.

Tried uninstalling a modem, no change.

I think I solved my problem, reading a bunch of threads here and there, getting me to bangle around, I had a lingering removed modem still having its software drivers installed, removed it, that did not work, however my current modem had an audio software driver, that was disabled. Drakensang then ran.

I would figure the game since it detected it would just bypass it...dunno....

good looking game, needs more sync with dialogue...oh well, some online MMORGS are doing this...

getting used to the combat system, more detailed than your simple hackNslash.
